We had a beautiful day for Tenterden Infant School's first visit to our dig site at The Hub, Quarry Farm, Bodiam. Situated less than 1/4 mile from Bodiam castle and behind the steam railway, this dig site has everything our budding archaeologists need.
Sixty children from KS2 Y4 came and learnt how discovering evidence from the past can tell us so much. The children were briefed on the techniques required and set to work on our spacious dig site to unearth all manner of artefacts. Teaching staff from the school remarked how engaged the children were, and how much they enjoyed discovering history for themselves. We were once again reminded how this kind of hands on learning really creates lasting memories and especially appeals to children who struggle in a classroom enviroment.
Fresh air & mud, nothing else needed :-)
